Longtime User Also!!!!

I am furious, I had the best file-sharing client for a couple blissful months and now something has taken it away from me. I can no longer connect no matter what. I seriously tried everything. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, deleted the .limewire folder, tried it on both xp and linux on my dual boot box, tried it on another box that has just xp, updated java, turned off all firewalls, and even called my isp--suspecting them of blocking the ports that limewire uses--and they said they dont block any ports. I am pretty computer savvy, yet this one has my stumped. Every time i start Limewire now it just says connecting for like 5 minutes then it just goes to disconnected. It is obviously using bandwith when it tries to connect since i can't even really browse the web with out my browser being slow or timing out. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Connections is not really my forte. But I'm curious whether you have any files that you've forced resume upon? Are you sure you aren't dwnlding anything? Click/double-click your Status in the dwnld window & search up & down the list to see if anything has connected. (ie: you can still be dwnlding even though the connection quality bars are showing a single red bar & you get the not connected warnings!) Also remember, that depending upon how many incomplete files you have, LW can take several mins to settle down after it has reloaded the incompletes.

I definantly don't have any downloads. Remember, i tried it on 3 different operating systems in my home, tried different versions of LW, installed and reinstalled, and I even removed XP sp2.....

I just tried Bearshare and that will not even work...All the lights on it turned green except for the first one---when i highlight it it says no hosts connected. So, apparently i can no longer connect with any hosts for some odd reason. Have the feds black-balled me?! someone help...

Check with your isp to make sure they haven't put some type of block on p2p use (not ports.) They may have recently adopted that outlook. Do you know anybody else who uses the same service provider? Perhaps you could try a diferent port: Alternate ports:http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=24523 Meanwhile I'll see if I can attract somebody elses attention to this thread.

Try to remember what you have done short before this problem! At first I thought its SP2 but you canīt connect under Linux... did you install new hardware? Perhaps a modem reset helps.

I haven't installed new hardware since I put my comp together about 4 months ago. When I look at the limwire bug reports the connect on startup is false, so it has to be a firewall. I am kind of suspicious of my router. It is a little old, and the documentation isn't very good. I've tried resetting it and opening the port but nothing seems to work. I am stumped.

There must be a change, a program donīt stop working without a reason. The firewall canīt be the reason - you donīt use the same one for Linux and Windows... did you upgrade to a newer Limewire version, perhaps a beta? Do you have other problems with your internet? The router could be the problem but there must be a reason for this... did you change the settings?

Are Linux and Windows reacting the same way or is there a difference?

I've never changed any settings on my router or anything.

Linux and xp are reacting the same way. Neither will connect.

Either I've been blackballed by the governent or my isp is lying. That is what I have come down to. I will call them tommorow and possibly let em have it.

I just called my ISP. Turns out they were blocking servers or something which didn't allow me to connect to LW. He turned this feature off, so now I am back in biz. Thanks for the help!
