Problem Connecting To Limewire...

Hi
I recently restarted my computer so its brand new and I had limewire on it before.
I've now installed limewire again to my computer but it wont connect. I've done all of the instructions to my settings *eg,adding the IP and UDP information* but it still wont connect. im on windows xp aswell.
Does anyone have any ideas for me please as this is frustrating me.
Thanks

Installation of Sp2 WILL change your settings: When LW is open, click Tools->Options & go to Bug report & click for an example. In the window that appears scroll down to the part that says: "Recieved incoming this session". If it says 'True' then LW has no problem with firewall, if 'False" then you do!!! Post back your results 'after' updting your Java!

And yeah it does say false

That means you'll need to allow both LW & java to pass thru! Do you know how to do that? As you would normally allow 'anything' to pass in the options. Do a search on the forum for 'sp2' or 'service pack'. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/search.php or alternatively see: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=26886

I just read that thread and one of the links given about firewalls i have already done them settings.
I have no idea how else I can let things pass through! !!

Did you do a search of the forum for sp2 as suggested earlier. (I must apologise, I'm a mac person so until a windows person arrives on the scene after a heavy sat night I can't suggest too much more until they arrive!) :D

xdaniellex October 9th, 2004 01:56 PM

Yeah I searched for it earlier and its jus the same things I have done really.
oh ok I didnt no u didnt have Windows! never mind thanks anyway!

I have read details about how to overcome this type of issue on the forum. BUT it does require some researching I warn you. No I'm not a windows expert (or any type of expert for that matter) but I have come across many sp2 probs even if just thru reading. I would also recommend Google sp2, it's not a silly idea, there's some valuable links & answers there!

lololol ok thanks!!

this may seem so dumb yeah but wot is sp2?!!!!!

What is windows?
windows is a gui system that Bill Gates 'stole' from apple macintosh (a version apple decided not to use) & pretended it was their 'own' & charged heaps & heaps for people to use it, whilst years & years since been totally beduzzled *** to how to overcome the adaption to a dos environment whilst continually (see win xp) trying to get it to work consistently if at all! (whilst keeping a copying eye on what mac does! So Cheap!!! )
