When LW is open, click Tools->Options & go to Bug report & click for an example. In the window that appears scroll down to the part that says: "Recieved incoming this session". If it says ‘True’ then LW has no problem with firewalls, but if 'False' it does have a prob.

I just did the received incoming session thing. For me it said false. What do i do now to connect?

That means you have some form of firewall blocking LW's access. Which OS version do you have (if it's XP which service pack do you have.) What type of known firewall do you have? Do you use a router? Do you connect via a school's network, at home or at work? Have a careful list at the following web page link: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml This will explain how to allow LW access to those types of firewall mentioned there. Fundamentally you need to allow a port for LW to access & you need to give LW & Java (2 java files) access/permission thru the firewall.

when I go to Tools, the only option is "Statistics" which goes to a menu with Advanced, Network, and Bandwidth. I see nothing about a Bug report. why is this?

What version of LW do you have & which Operating System version?

So you must have OSX. That's the problem when people don't list their details as recommended by the forum rules.

Anyhow, here's the mac osx instructions in easy to see guide below. Please post back yur results (true/false.)

Hi, I am also able to surf but I haven't been able to connect at all since I've downloaded LW. I checked the bug report thing and it said false, which i guess means that there's a firewall blocking it. I have XP SP2 and Windows Firewall is the only one that is running, and I already made sure that it's not blocking LW. I am connected through a university residence hall, so could that be the problem? If so, what do I do?

Hey, what university do you go to? I have the same problem! I'm always connect to the internet but LW can't ever connect. I've try the whole port opening thing with the IP address too. I'm looking for help too.

I'm at the University of Wisconsin. I had LW going a couple of weeks ago but it didn't work real well so I disabled it. Now after I re-downloaded it, it doesn't connect at all. Some other people have different file sharing programs that work here in the res halls, so maybe it's just LW
