Port Requests Flooding Firewall

I have a questions, 1) i have noticed that after many hours of being connected that my ip seems to be getting around to everybody and there brother because i am getting about 700 inbound events per minute. This is no problem when i am connected and sharing but when i am no longer connected to the gnutella network this becomes a bit of a problem because then they are unsolicited. I know i need to invest in a router, but i am thinking i will still have same problem because then it will push the router to it's limits, instead of the firewall. I have tried ipconfig /release - ipconfig /renew, but this does not change my ip. My ip lease is renewed once a week so by the end of the week there is alot of unsolicited packets. Any suggestions?

That's bound to happen. If you connect to Gnutella, you have a set of IPs that you blindly try to connect to. If you were online for a long time, you will get that kind of unsolicited traffic for weeks, sometimes even months till it finally stops. But since it costs practically no bandwidth at all...
