Connection Issues

Hello,
I have Windows Xp OS and the Linksys WRT54G router and I can't figure out how to connect to Limewire. I have read through many websites for the port forwarding information and the firewalls but I must be missing something because I still can not connect. Please help!!

Thank you!

If you configured your XP firewall (& others) for LW here already: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml & you still have problems then you will definitely need to port forward thru your model of modem. See port forwarding instructions for WRT54G OR if yours in version WRT54G 1.1, v2 & CA see here then. And use port 6346 for LW. You will also need to configure LW as well so have a look here: LW settings image for Force IP

still can't connect

Okay, I have disabled the firewall on my computer by going to the Network connections and also adding the Gnutella TCP and UDP under advanced settings. Next I went to my linksys web page and under the applications and gaming I put: application: gnutella, Port range:6346 to 6346, Protocol: both, IP address: 192.168.1.101, then I check the enable box. Then save settings. Then I went to LM under tools and options and checked force port and added 6346 then checked apply and ok. I still can't connect. My linksys router serves as a wireless access, my actual internet connection is through a motorola modem. Please advise if you know of anything further I could try. Thank you.

Hi everyone!

I too am having a similiar problem. Except. TurboCharge use to work and then of the last two days it has gone no higher than

Excellent.

I got Turbo Charge connection when I already had SP2 of Windows :( I don't know what could possibly be suddenly causing this.

I added the Javascript too.

What should I do?

victoria.hoffman: Can you tell us your modem model number. Let's hope you don't have 2 devices in a row that use NAT.

indiegirl2000: I'm not sure what your problem is it could be anything, but it doesn't sound like a NAT modem/router issue. Check this for optimising your LW: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. Don't 'Resume' too many files using the Resume function, it's much better to manually search for them. It can potentially cause have with LW's connection quality.

type of modem

Motorola Modem : SB5100 Surfboard Cable Mode- this is what is on the outside of the box, I am assuming this is the type. Thank you.

Hi victoria.hoffman
It sounds as though you do have 2 nat devices in front of each other. OK, I don't have direct instructions for your model, but it should be similar to one of the following: (probably SBG900) see here: Look for Motorolla in 3rd column about 5th in row from top A complex setup using 2 nat devices. I might be wrong b/c not all surfboard modems have nat. Particularly the usb ones. Don't forget to update your Java: Java 1.4.2 (click on link)

Motorola not a wireless

Hey I just wanted to let you know that my motorola is not a wireless modem. So the three models listed on the link you gave me are not anything close to my options. Anyway, I updated my Java and I am able to connect now, so maybe that was all I needed to do??? Thank you for your help.
