I followed instructions, fixed the firewalls, delete my preferences, upgraded to pro (4.2.2) (i have a mac version 10.3.6) and its still isnt working! what should i do? its getting frustrating... thanks lulz |

Lea, Use the post reply button (bottom right) if you want to add something |
ok thx but...any answers to my connection problems? |
Here's a few suggestions: Delete LW & LW's Preferences. Do a re-install of LW, do a SAFE restart & Repair Permissions & re-install using the standalone Java installer. This can apparently fix some issues with Java (See slin's post & link to standalone Java installer) And then install LW & do another safe boot. Some people have had problems after updating to 10.3.6 It's always good to repair your permissions with Disk Utility after a Safe restart both before & after you install software. Otherwise seemingly unknown errors can appear such as trying to launch the app. Oh by the way, if you trash LW's Prefs you'll need to reset all your options/settings so make a note of them 1st. LW's prefs can be found here: /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire |
still didnt work Thanks for answering so quickly but im sorry to tell you that it's still not connecting. i followed everything as said. it still indicates 'enabling open information sharing'. since i moved countries , do you think i have to 'buy' LW again? because my post subject was added by 'change isp and upgraded to 4.2.2 now kaput' what does that mean?? |
Don't worry about the change of thread name. One of the other mods did that. We've got a policy of trying to improve thread names so they are more meaningful if people are going to read them back. By the way, if you're a pro user you can keep using the version you have until after your 6mths of rego is up, although you can update to newer versions during that time. Sorry to hear our suggestions haven't helped so far. We might need to go thu this bit by bit. What connections devices do you use? Please specify brand & model no.'s of your modem & router devices. Where are you connecting from: work, home, school, etc.? Have you asked your isp in your new area whether they block p2p use for any reason? Are you sure your OSX firewall is turned off; see: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml IF you normally have it turned on. |
thank you so much, for answering so quickly and caring that much! well, i connect from home, i'm a student living in dorms, with a broadband internet service called keycom. i am connected via a built in ethernet and my IP is 82.110.67.92. i upgraded my LW two days ago aprox. i have to wait till monday to ask if they block the p2p file sharing. my firewall is off as indicated... im not very pro in computers so you'll have to tell me which info you need! thank you again! lea |
1 Attachment(s) Dorms sound a bit ominous. So many students try to connect from dorms nowadays & find out they're being blocked b/c universities are starting to block p2p use b/c it uses up so much bandwidth & dwnld quantity. So I'll await your response. I guess in the meantime you can try to Force IP such as the image below. |
hello, is the window you showed me in the limewire preferences? i dont think so, if not, cant find it. how do i force my ip?? thx! |
