1stly see: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml & check the whole page to ensure you've configured all your firewalls.

2ndly: Update your Java to the most recent version: Java 1.4.x OR Java 1.5 (take the JRE)

3rdly: After configuring your firewalls, leave Limewire (LW) on for say half an hour, then do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image & post back your results: are they True or False? If they are False then: please supply the following information: 1. Operating System version (OS), 2. LW version, 3. modem & router brand name & model numbers, 4. Where you're connecting from (home, school, work, etc.)?

4rthly: If your result was True, leave LW on for a while before using, it can take a while to settle down. A well set-up LW can start to continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints.
