cant connect win xp sp2
 

I need help getting connected. status stays connecting forever but never connects I added the ports and downloaded java I am using winows xp and have a DSL connection. my modem is a speedstream 5200 by Efficient Networks I have windows service pack 2 but am thinking about deleteing it seems to cause allot of trouble. please help me if you can I just want to downloud some music. thank you! adamaudio

Double-check your port forward settings. See Port Forwarding for the Speedstream 5200 instructions here & make sure you set up a static ip first!!! Very important otherwise your settings will change everytime you log on (ie: the modem will assign your comp a new no. each time.) Also make sure you added the Force IP within LW: Force IP instructions & sample image & ensure you used the same port no. for both LW's port & firewall setting, & your speedstream. When you've adjusted your modem for port forwarding, don't forget to save your settings & reboot the modem.

Update your Java to Java 1.5 (take the JRE)
