I have never noticed any 'problems' with the max set way higher than 768MB... But, I have also very rarely noticed any noticeable benefit when setting max much above 768 or 1024... Only on older machines with limited memory and also a relatively new HDD (faster access) have I seen an improvement when going up to 1024. Old machines with insufficient RAM seem to have their HDDs upgraded first !!!   |
