Windows SP2
 

I have windows SP2 and like everyone else i'm having severe problems eradicating this whole firewall situation. I get an error saying that either no internet connection is found/firewall is activated, or there is a poor connection. I have high speed at my college and have never had anything but turbo charged previously. I opened all the ports that were suggested and updated java but i'm still have problems, what else should i try?

Try uninstalling SP2. What do you need it for? So many people blindly update not knowing what they're updating to. It was not designed for the lttle peron but big networks. And it's caused them big headaches.

Did you try the various fixes for SP2? try the sticky at the top if the connections section. That covers about 70% of fixes that've worked.
Other than that try forcing ip: Force IP instructions & sample image

Since you're connecting from a uni. all I can suggest is: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints.

Sp2 sucks, uninstall it plain and simple in add/remove programs. You know you'll feel better after;)

so i followed your advice and just removed SP2 from my computer and limewire seems to be working a little better now, which i can deal with :) Thanks a lot guys!

Jeepin4Life the meaning of SP2 is: sp2=Windows XP Service Pack 2 OR Sh*t Proogrum OR Silly Person who downlds it, OR Short Phrase for Microcopic B@lls of an ant'$$$$ Or s***Pr*** Or Misers of the $ kind OR hopeless Programmers of the $uc* U 2nd nature.

Don't pretend to make sense of that! Just venting some prodding frustration. :p Can't seeem to find the right smilies ..ahhh!
