Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. OS version, 2. What firewalls you have, 3. ram, 4. HDD space available, 5. Connection type, 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers, 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is.

HELP ME TOO!!

Please help me.

I downloaded limewire in August and has been working great until last week, where the green bar will not go past one stage.

I am having exactly the same problem,

I have no firewalls on whatsoever. Strange, because kazaa is still working,....

I have tried everything on the forums, reinstalling the program, adding ports, deleting directories, blah blah.

I have windows XP, and in add remove programs there is Hotfix service pack 2. (However, I have not noticed this until recently). I am connected throug my Dad's wireless system which is BT voyager (cable/DSL I am assuming). I think my PC's RAM is 2.56.

Please could you help me.....kazaa is ****.

Thanks,

Reena.

Can you find out the model number of your bt voyager? ALso make sure your XP firewall is properly configured to allow LW full access: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml
& ensure your Java is up to date: Java 1.4.2 (click on link)

Yes you can often connect thru a firewall but you'll have limited connection. Also other people would have major problems uplding from you.

Also do this: Force IP instructions & sample image

reena: Please don't post in more than one thread about the same issue.

sorry

Hi, Sorry about the double posting.

The BT Voyager model number is 1010. It also says 802.11b wireless Lan on the box.

I have already forced my IP address as well as updating the java thing.

But I will double check the firewall setting on my connection. Should i do this even though the have not selected to have a firewall?

Thanks,

Reena

i really have no idea how to check all my information.. all i know is that i have one main connection in my house, and i have a card, wireless connection for my computer.. im sure that didnt help, at all, but oh well..

last time i lost connection, i followed some instructions that had me delete a file, and when i opened limewire again, it was as if i downloaded it and started from the beginning [the box came up for me to enter my username and all that] i thought it had deleted my songs, but they were all saved.. and i had excellent connection

if anyone knows what im talking about, and how i can do that again, please let me know!

Before you install LW it's always best to install the latest version of Java: Java 1.5 (take the JRE)
Also go to Control Panel then Add/Remove Programs & click on Limewire on the Change/Remove button & it comes up with options and one of them is Repair. Try this.

Make sure your firewalls are configured to allow both LW & Java full access: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

To delete LW's Preferences folder (yes you will need to reset your options), look for .limewire found here: C:/Documents And Settings/your_username/.limewire (BUT whilst LW is closed!)
For Windows 98 / ME: Your .limewire folder is in "C:\My Documents"

One other trick is Right-clicking the Limewire icon and going to properties and change compatability setting to Windows 2000

IT'S STILL NOT WORKING!!!!!!!!!!!!

i really think i have tried everything everyone has said.. still nothing.. it always shows the first little bar and says connecting, but doesn't go any further..

i don't understand!! this is so frustrating!
meanwhile, i tried deleting the program, and redownloading, but it saved all my songs and just starts right where it left off..
