Agg! Wont Connect!
 

Hey. My names stephen aand i just doenloaded limewire, but after i open it it just sitts there, tries to connect, and then disconnects! Do i need a TCP and UDP port to even RUN limewire? Please help me out!!!:eek:

I have a shaw cable modem, im 13, and im a bit new to p2p filesharing. I just downloaded limewire. when i open the prog, it says "connecting" for like 2 mins, then disconnects. Please help!
i dont know where to find all the specific dteails about my modem. Do i need a TCP and UDP port to use limewire???Hell, i dont even no what TCP or a UDP ports are :confused:!Sorry im such a noob:(! Could ya give a kid sum help?

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. Operating System version (eg: Windows XP), 2. What firewalls you have, 3. ram, 4. HDD space available, 5. Modem & router brand name & model numbers, 6. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is.

You will probably have firewalls on your computer right? For XP & some other common types see here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

Make sure you have a reasonably update version of Java: Java 1.4.2 (click on link) The LW installer will only install the minimum version which is Java 1.3 so I generally recommend to install with a later version of Java before you install LW. Java is very important for LW.

im running on windows xp, i have disabled/deleted all of my firewalls, i have a 256 ram, 53.5 GB of hdd space, and a motorolla cable modem (model SB5100) built in mexico, i use shaw high speed internet, and im trying to connect from my home in vancouver, BC, Canada. Hope you this information will aid in solving my problem:D good day.

I have solved my limewire problem! Instead of trying the whole "IP adress" thing, i just completely disabled my firewall. Now my limewire connection is turbocharged!:D thanks anyway!
