Firewall problem
 

I go to school at a college university, FAU. I just downloaded Limewire Pro, and I can't connect b/c it says i am behind a firewall. Does anyone know how to disable the firewall when you are on a college network. I have microsoft XP if that helps. Please help, i will be really pissed if i wasted the money b/c i can't use it.

When you say a college network it sounds a bit ominous b/c many schools block p2p use nowadays. You should ask the college network's tech staff to find this out.

You will have XP firewall & possibly others so you'll need to configure it to allow both LW & Java access: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

Make sure your java is a reasonably up to date version: Java 1.4.2 (click on link) LW only asks to install Java version 1.3 but it eally needs a later version.

If you're still having problems connecting you can also try to force ip: Force IP instructions & sample image
