connection promblems I'm getting 2 messages that pop up all the time. 1st one.. Limewire was unable to set up a port to listen for incoming connections. Some features of Limewire may not work as expected. Then when I search something... Limewire is currently connecting to the network. Your search may not return many results untill you are fully connected to the network. |
Do this simple test & go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ What happens? You should see a page that says Test page was a success. Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. OS version, 2. What firewalls you have, 3. ram, 4. HDD space available, 5. Connection type, 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers, 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is. |
I have mcafee fire wall and I'm doing this from home. I'll try to get more info in a few. |
1. You'll need to configure your firewalls to allow LW & Java full access: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml 2. Update your Java: Java 1.5 (take the JRE) 3. Delete the LW Preferences folder called .limewire (whilst LW is closed!) & found here: Windows NT 4.0 / 2000 / XP: C:/Documents And Settings/your_username/.limewire OR Windows 98 / ME: Your .limewire folder is in "C:\My Documents" What happened when you visited that site I gave you in my 1st post? |
It works now. Thanks :) |
