XP Sucks for LW I cant get lw to work. I tried deleting the limewire folder but that didn't work.. It just says connecting but won't. What should I do? I opened ports through the microsoft firewall but still Not working. Let me know if anyone know what I should do? |
Some details might help. Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. SP2?, 2. What firewalls you have, 3. ram, 4. HDD space available, 5. Connection type, 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers, 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is. |

I'm running XP and getting: 'Limewire is unable to connect . . . due to firewalls or content-filtering software blocking access to Gnutella (port 6346). Please review your firewall options etc etc' I have a firewall setup, but Limewire and port 6346 are set up as exceptions. I'm running SP2. Starband Satellite modem, model 360. The kicker is that it was working (albeit slowly) and then this popped up. I'm not running Norton. I'm running Limewire Pro. |
Satellite hmmm! Satellite is very subsceptible to weather & sun gamma rays, sunspots, etc. Did you see the SP2 Sticky or 2 on the forum? Have a quick look. Try this: Fixes for Limewire And don't resume too many (if any) files when starting the session off. After opening LW, let it settle for 30 or more mins. Some hints: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities. |
Ringlord, Thanks! I'll check it out. BTW, Satellite is working great today. Signal quality is maxed out and Mozilla Firefox is running fast. That's how I'm able to talk to you now. ;-) Marc |
