Default Limewire won't connect through my network's firewall

I have a Mac with OS X operating system. I'm using the latest version of Limewire. It works well at home, but when I return to school it won't connect. Nothing pops up on the screen, it just constantly says "connecting" in the lower left corner and never connects. I'm assuming this is because my school has a firewall to prevent access to filesharing networks. What can I do? I tried adding the Gnutella port to the list of allowed ports in System Prefs as the website suggests, but to no avail. Do I need to be messing with proxies? Is there a chance the problem has nothing to do with firewalls? I'm using the free version of Limewire, but I'm willing to buy PRO if it will solve the problem. I'm not very computer savvy, so I would appreciate help with this. Thank you!

Pro will not solve the problem. Many schools block p2p apps using a no. of techniques.

I don't know about proxies sorry so I can't direct you.

You could try force IP: Force IP instructions & sample image but still might not help.

A simple test you can do is go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ It should say Test page was a success. If not, then they are blocking many ports. If a success then they might be using other techniques.
