Limewire claims my internet connection failed when it didn't
 

I had been connected to limewire for about a hr and a message popped up saying that my limewire couldn't connect to my machine becuase there was no active internet connecting available. the internet icons were still shown (56k) and i could get to websites. i can close the program and reopen it and it works for a while again. sometimes the computer will not allow me to access websites even though it seems the internet is still connected. i just disconnect and reconnect and it seems to work. i have tried to figure this problem out and i am stumped. i have windows 2000 sp4 and pccillin with no firewall enabled. and a external usb modem from creative de5671. please help me with this problem.

As a dial up user you should not run as an Ultrapeer. Go to your LW menu Tools>Options>Speed & tick the Disable UP capabilities & press the Apply button.

Reduce your upload speed to near minimum. Tools>Options>Uplds>Basic & move the slider to the left. Press the apply button.
