connection problems i have just downloaded limewire today. i have been playing with for 4 hours now and can not get it to connect. i followed all the instructions on the website for the firewalls and all the suggestions in the forum without any success. i have disabled my firewalls and still no success. i tried the link to the success page and it says "cannot find server". i tried to delete the .limewire folder and upon startup i have to reenter everything then or the program will not load. i am a web developer however i have little experience with p2p. here are my specs: windows xp with service pack 2(firewall off) zone alarm pro firewall (set to medium) speedstream dsl router(firewall set to medium) netgear wireless firewall router(firewall not installed) 512mb ram 120 gb hd epix internet isp i had no trouble connecting to kazaa with my current setup. i was able to connect to gnutella on etomi but hate the program. i am seriously frustrated. please help!! |
If the test page says "Cannot find server" it means that the destination port 6346 is blocked on your computer. If you can't connect, it probably means that the port range 6346-6351 is blocked (and probably a lot more ports). It is possible that Zone Alarm is responsible however it may very well be your router that may be ill configured. |
