LW come back!!!

Ok so here's the deal. I'm on a school network and couldn't get limewire to work. I kept trying the purger.jar file again and again and couldn't get it working. And then, I tried it one more time and low and behold it started working!!! But then, I must have changed some setting or something and messed up the connection - now I'm back to where I started. I can't get it to connect AT ALL. I actually downloaded Morpheus and that works fine except that the downloads are much slower. Here's my get-up, please please please help me out - I've gone through all the tips and have even reinstalled my network drivers - nothing has worked!

1. Windows XP - sp2
2. XP firewall - have both gnutellas and limewire as exception
3. 256 mb of ram
4. 40 gigs of hd space free
5. Connection type - T1? - ethernet
6. Realtek 8193 Ethernet NIC, Belkin 4port router
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? School network

Please see forum rules about double-posting. That's 3 identical posts! http://www.gnutellaforums.com/announ...?s=&forumid=29

Did you ask your school if it's ok to use LW on their network?

The beta 4.3.3 has better firewall to firewall transfer abilities: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/beta.shtml

Leave LW on for some time to try to connect.

sorry

Sorry for double posting. No one was responding to my post, which lead me to repost.

Anyway, I know LW works on my school's network because I know of other people who use it. The only issue that is of concern is the school's use of Packeteer - which chops up the bandwidth so instead of getting a truly constant stream of bandwidth, the end user gets tiny fragments of bandwidth and the computer still acts like its receiving the max bandwidth.

It puzzles me why I was able to get LW to work, then did something stupid, and now can't get it to work again. I have configured my firewall (XP) time and time again and even tried to alter some settings in my router [although when I was successful in getting LW to work, I did not have to do a thing to the router].

I will try LW beta, as suggested and let you know what becomes of it.

Did I mention before that Morpheus works, and I am able to connect to gnutella through that program - although the speeds are noticiably slower. I have not played around with the firewall settings in Morpheus. I know that you're not in the business of playing around with Morpheus, but why would M connect to the gnutella while LW will not?

I know I asked a lot of questions, but any information/suggestions you are able to provide will greatly be appreciated.

Thanks for your help!
