programs clashing?? MSN???

Hi guys

I've been using limewire for 6 months now...and never had a problem with it until recently...

Now when i use Limewire... Limewire itself runs fine.... But my other programs that require connection to the internet don't

I first thought it was my ISp becuase I was logging in and out of MSN and Limewire would lose connection temporarily.. But as soon as i close limewire, everything runs as normal...

Does anyone know why Limewire would cause this problems??

The programs it affects are all internet related oes like:

MSN
Yahoo Messenger
Gaim Messenger
Internet Explorer
FireFox
Outlook Express.

Any answers would be most appreciated..

Thanks

Mike

Somebody else was complaining about the identical thing just days ago.

1. Go to LW's menu Tools>Options>Speed & tick Disable UltrapeerPeer capabilities. And press the Apply button.

2. Tools>Options>Basic & reduce the Upload speed slider back to under 80%. If you find it's not enough then reduce it further.

3. After opening LW, don't do anything with it for at least 15 mins. Depending on how many incomplete & shared files you have, LW takes some time to settle down & during this time can be very cpu & bandwidth demanding. I often don't do anything but turn LW on; eg: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...028#post116028

4. Don't use the Resume button on too many (if any files) in order to continue them. This can make LW work overtime & use up large bandwidth & lots of cpu processing power. Manual searches are much more effective anyway.

5. Close any LW windows you'e not using at that time, eg: Connections & Monitor windows.

6. Set your downlds for auto-clear (Options>Downlds & tick Auto-clear option & press Apply button.

7. Get rid of any search results that are older than a few hours. Search results can go stale after a while.

All these things will help to reduce LW's burdon on both your computer & your connection.
