connection prob is my isp to blame??

hi

before christmas i was connected to tiscali i had a 512 connection speed and was downloading at around 50kbs on all file sharing software, eg, limewire, azureus kazaa etc. ive changed to another isp now as it is supposed to be faster the new isp is

EURO1NET well my speed is now zero on all sharing software. ive informed euro1net and they are investigating through my telephone line provider (BT) reading some other threads ive seen people talk about isp's who wont allow you to downkload through file sharing software. is this correct my ports are all configured to allow sharing, my firewall in service pack 2 is uninstalled. whats the problem here is my isp no good.

help me guys im new to this

hmm not sure about your modem an expert would have to help you with that, but while you wait you might check this link on java: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...&highlight=JRE

Also in LimeWire and under help it will say about LimeWire if you click that it will show your currently installed versions of LimeWire(LW) and Java

I also did web search for your modem found this website. It has instructions on how to check your modem: This link goes away from this forum (offsite): http://www.adslguide.org.uk/qanda.as...roubleshooting

But is it true that certain internet service providers can block file sharing, there is a thread that tells the ones are ok such as V21, and Tiscali for instance but there isnt one that tells you the ones, if this is true, that will not allow file sharing.

As i have said i was with Tiscali and i had no problems with Limewire, or any torrent download software tools such as Azureus.

Im with Euro1net now but since connection i cannot download from any file sharing programs. I can download directly from the internet however, such as any peices of software that you dont need to go through any file sharing software packages such as Limewire, Kazaa or any torrent programs.

If it is the case that certain ISP'S can block file sharing without informing you i would like to change my ISP.

this is how I undertand it. Yes an ISP can block/restrict certain ports if they want. You would need to contact your ISP and ask if they are blocking the port you are using for LW. Tools options advanced, firewall configurtion, listen on port it should have 6346 entered. That is the port number you need to ask if they are blocking. I'm not sure about your particular ISP as I live in another Country. One of the experts here may be able to better answer your question, as this subject is a little beyond my knowledge other than what I have already said here.

something else you could do is this. In LimeWire go to tools options bug reports, and click on view examples. You should be able to copy and then paste the result back here in a post.

The experts would then be able to view it for any problems with your system, and give you better help and answers than I have.

you cannot actually copy and paste this information.

You should be able to. I'll try and explain how. Do the Bug Report again. When the results come up move your pointer to the top of the report text. Once there left click and hold while you drag the pointer accross and down the page. It should start to highlight the info in blue. At the bottom of the document realease. Put the pointer over the highlighted blue area. right click once. A menu should come up select copy. It should copy the page. Come back here and start a post. Place the pointer in the post area and Right click the mouse once a menu should come up. Select paste the informatiom you just copied should be in the post now.
