listening port for incoming connections i'm having trouble with lw saying it can't establish a listening port for incoming connections. i'm running xp, linksys wireless router, zoomtown dsl, and limewire 4.4.2 |
Which model of linksys do you have? Many modems/routers have internal firewalls. You might need to forward a port using Port 6346. See both Linksys port forwarding & also the bottom of Port Forward.com for instructions & see if your model is listed. See also Force IP instructions & sample image which is the final step. If you need to forward a port then do these: 1. Set up a static ip 2. Forward Port 6346 3. Force IP within LW. Have you configured your firewalls to allow LW full access?: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml (XP has its own firewall.) |
LISTENING PORT UNABLE TO CONNECT I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND I HAVE WINDOWS XP. I FOLLOWED THE FIREWALL INSTRUCTIONS AS FOLLOWED BUT I STILL GOT THE SAME MESSAGE AND MY CONNECTION STILL WONT EVEN GET TO THE SECOND BAR. WHEN I HAD THE OLDER VERSION OF LIMEWIRE ON MY OLD LAPTOP I NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. IS THERE ANYWAY I CAN JUST GET THE OLDER LIMEWIRE VERSION BECAUSE THIS NEWER VERSION ISN'T WORKING OUT FOR ME. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS WHAT I SHOULD DO. I DOWNLOADED KAZAA BUT THEN I UNISTALLED IT BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE IT AS MUCH AS I LIKE LIMEWIRE. LIMEWIRE IS ALOT BETTER AND EASIER TO ACCESS. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP:confused:     |

Did you check the links I gave you above. Such as how to forward a port on a linksys. Answers No. 5 & 6 on that list will explain. That's from their own support site. And also Setting up a Static ip for Linksys PF |
port forwarding i tried all your suggestions and had no results |
Did you try connecting without the router to see if it made any difference (if that's possible)? |
You have something blocking that port a firewall of some sort. Are you running any programs like Norton Internet Security, Zone Alarm, etc. It could be almost anything that has a firewall, or built in Firewall. Lord of the Rings and myself aren't there to see what you have, so it is really hard for us to think of other options and fixes. |
Hey dieselfreak, I have a dell and I was having the same problem and I think we might have the same type of comp. If you have the McAfee firewall then this is what you do. Click on the McAfee Personal firewall icon click on the internet tap. You should see an icon for Limewire if it says blocked next to it then press unblock. What happened for me was when I was installing limewire I blocked it so that might have been your same problem. This worked for me and now I have an excellent collection. I hope it works for you. |
finally i figured it out my 90 day trial firewall expired. so all of its components quit working until I renewed my subscription. now it is letting me access limewire with no problems. thanks for all the help and paitence. |
