I'd suggest you re-install Java using the Standalone Java installer. Please see link & other tips here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...3462#post93462

If still problems then please post back. Or in the French section.

Did you try 8. the Jum build as in the link I gave you? Did you try the Combo installer step 7(b)
Did you realise LW 4.8 has been released. Even though the LW site says it's 4.6, it is actually 4.8 released just days ago.

1. Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
2. ram?
3. HDD space available?
4. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
5. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
6. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?

Limewire won't download for Mac OS X 10.3.6

Hi,
I'm computer illiterate so please bear with me.

I have a Mac Powerbook G4 1.33 GHz with 80 GB, 512 MB DDR SD RAM. I have been using Mac OS X 10.3.6 for some time, and was using Limewire 4.6 PRO for some time (since August 2004). Recently my PRO subscription ran out, and then I renewed and upgraded to Limewire 4.8 PRO. But it really doesn't work. I used to be able to download 10 songs at a time at very high speeds, now I can barely download any. I have managed to download about three songs since I upgraded earlier this week (and have tried to download dozens). Most of the time, I choose a song (even one with a very fast connection, like T3, with several servers hosting it, like 5), and it goes to my download window, as if it is downloading, but it just sits there at "0 KB/s". No progress ever occurs, and occasionally a time will pop up saying "31:55" or something (suggesting that if I waited 31 hours, maybe the song would download), but often there is no time indicated at all.

What can I do? I've been looking at a lot of the threads in here, and installed that upgraded Java thing for MAC, uninstalled Limewire a few times (deleting all references), installed it a few times more, found the older version I was using (4.6) online and installed THAT, but still, the same problem occurs.

Can anyone help me?
Thank you,
Samantha

Try deleting your LW preferences folder found here: /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire
Then try the Jum build LW which can be found at no. 8 here: OSX problems (click on link) & even try some of the other suggestions if this doesn't work.

!!!Working!!!

Just wanted to say that Limewire seems to be working again (fingers crossed), after several re-installs, running a permissions repair on my disk (in disk utility), and wiping my limewire preferences... not sure what was the solution, but thanks to all the people who helped!

similar problems

Hi,

I have a strange problem with Limewire...when I'm connected to DSL by cord, i'm okay, but if i'm on wireless, I can't connect, or it freezes and crashes my computer.

I have OS 10.2, so i'm wondering if upgrading to 10.3 would help, or getting LW Pro? But I'd hate to spend money and have the same problems. Any suggestions?

I've uninstalled and reinstalled, ad nauseum....so I don't know what to do other than wire directly in.

Thanks

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? 10.2.?
2. What firewalls you have?
3. ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.

Wireless routers tend to have internal firewalls. This might be your problem. But we need to know what type it is (eg: apple Airport)
