Another 'limewire is not connecting' post..

I've read every single connection problem post in here, but i still can't figure out how to make limewire connect! I know everyone is sick of connection problem posts here but i really need help!! .. I would really appreciate it if you help me make it connect. My so called network adminstrator has blocked the use of all file sharing problems. Some people tell me that i should i use Http-Tunnel, but i just dont know how to use it. I have version 4.6.0 and not the pro one. If there's anything else you want to know about the PC or internet i use, ask me. I really reallyy want this to work!! so please help!

It would be good if you could find out how the admin blocked p2p. You should be careful though. If they have made it an official rule employees are not to use p2p then it really does make it risky for you.

Give us as much info about the computer & network set up as you can.

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. ram?
4. HDD space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...)

You can set up firewalls for LW here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say ‘Test Page was a Success’. What happens when you go there?

If the page was a success then it means they're not blocking port 6346.

I don't know about Http-Tunnel other than vaguely hearing about it. Another member/mod would need to comment about that. Another option is A Fix for those whose ISP's block Limewire which is using proxies.

-I'm using windows xp.
-I don't think i have any firewalls but the windows Internet Connection Firewall and i have checked File sharing as an exception.
-I have 240 MB of Ram
-76 GB HDD
-Cable internet or LAN whatever they call it, but its no that fast
-I don't have a modem, I have a Network card: Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC
-Trying to connect from home
-Java 1.5.0_01

I've already been to this firewall setup page before, and I did what it says, and it was useless

I did the test and it was a success

Originally it sounded like you were trying to connect from work.

Who is that? lol :D Is it you live in a unit with shared connection throughout the building with neighbouring resident units?

Have you read the manual for your ethernet card. Here is a link. http://www.ktinet.com/Manual/KF-221FX.pdf.

Take a look there: http://gnutellaforums.com/showthread...ght=proxy+http

But there are probably good reasons to block P2P at work... Use it at home for your personnal usage

Nadiiine February 28th, 2005 06:35 AM

I've already been there! http://gnutellaforums.com/showthrea...ight=proxy+http
but i probably have a different version of limewire because i have no force ip option..

and why should i read the network card manual .. i opened it and its too big! i'm too lazy to read it :D .. what would it help with anyway?

and Lord of the Rings, my so called adminstrator is some dumb guy who knows nothing about networking

oh and by the way .. the connecting.. status in limewire is really starting to **** me off!! so please guys help me! .. or soon im gonna delete limewire cuz its getting on my nerves

Lord of the Rings February 28th, 2005 06:49 AM

Delete it then. Just too lazy to fix it after 2 mods & another member tried to help you. Force IP instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that.

I'm sorry Lord of the Rings, I didn't mean it that way.
I'm not lazy to fix it, I was just lazy to read the network card manual cause i was wondering what would it help with.
and thank you for trying help me I appreciate it

Greetings Nadiiine,

There is a reason I put up the link to your ethernet card manual.

Your ethernet card is not your normal run of the mill ethernet card.

It uses no wires for connections (ie. USB or ethernet cable). It is fiber optic (fiber optic lines). if you would have taken the time to read a little further you would have seen it has a "SLEEP" and "HIBERNATE" mode of operation. We aren't there to get you off your LAZY you know what. All we can do is provide you with information that may or may not help. You will undoubtably have to READ the MANUAL to SEE if "YOUR" ethernet card is setup properly.

That tells me there is nothing blocking your connection (Port).

Have you tried in LimeWire 1) file 2) connect --- click

Have a nice day:)
