Program will not launch.

I've tried to launch the program by the shortcut and through the start menu but nothing happens.

Lord of the Rings March 1st, 2005 07:51 AM

Then open it directly from the main program folder. If there's a problem with the shortcut then it will be the same with start menu also.

same problem

it doesn't work from the main folder either. i've uninstalled and reinstalled a few times and nothing happened. and someone in another thread told me to delete .limewire from my documents and settings. everytime i click on the icons it'll show a busy arrow but then 2 seconds later nothing happens.

Hmmm not sure but others have had similar problems. Some of them resolved the problem by either updating there video drivers, or rolling back to a previous driver.

They were having problems with the Radeon 800 series driver from ATI.

BabyJ March 5th, 2005 03:16 PM

i don't know what card i've got or what drivers the computer is all new..had it for like 2 months.

i'm on an emachines M5312..winxphome

there's no way i could download the previous version is there?

fabion March 5th, 2005 04:11 PM

Greetings BabyJ

If you go to start>contol panel>systems>hardware>device manager ----- It will list all the devices installed on your e-machine. You will find your video adapter there.

you can search(upper right) the forums for previous versions. There are several posts with links in them.

BabyJ March 5th, 2005 04:45 PM

alright i'm assuming my video card is under the display adapters which would make it a Radeon IGP 320M...

Lord of the Rings March 5th, 2005 05:12 PM

Whilst continuing with fabion's answers can you consider a Registry Cleaner. If you don't have one, then get one here: Registry Cleaners After running the RC then reinstall LW.

Greetings BabyJ

Your video card (display adapter) driver may be the problem. It is a different series, but so is mine, and I have had some minor problems with it.

See this link. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=34408

LotR beat me to the button, but his suggestion is good, and will make your comp. run better.:D

BabyJ March 5th, 2005 06:07 PM

k.. registry cleaner and reinstalling didn't work. i can't find the most previous version of LW in the forums like you suggested either.

Lord of the Rings March 5th, 2005 07:49 PM

Previous versions available If necessary choose a .zip version & it will be easier to install! Just unzip & use!!! :) http://users.telenet.be/eforum/emoti...ans/fahr10.gif

BabyJ March 5th, 2005 09:19 PM

ok.. now i'm really confused. the previous version worked perfectly fine at all times for me and it won't open now either. i never had a problem with it opening cuz of my anti-virus or spysweeper b4 but would that have anything to do with it now?

Lord of the Rings March 5th, 2005 09:29 PM

It could be. Which AV & anti-spyware apps do you have?

BabyJ March 5th, 2005 10:02 PM

i use webroot spysweeper ver 3.2.0 and my antivirus is NAV2005.

I'm having the same problem. I've tried launching from all places and it still wont open. It all started when I ran no adware I believe it deleted some of the necessary software to run the program. How do I get it back?

Lord of the Rings March 9th, 2005 08:32 PM

There's ONLY 2 spy/Adwares that can be truly trusted. The reason is that some don't get updated often or are just poorly designed & see p2p apps (particularly the magnets) as being spyware so it will eradicate it. lol (Actually I thought Spysweeper was ok but.)

Here's the recommended list:

ad-ware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ (FREE)

Spybot - Search & Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html (FREE)

Peerguardian: http://peerguardian.methlabs.org/pg2.html (FREE)

BabyJ March 9th, 2005 10:13 PM

well we figured out the problem with my computer being that i was just running out of date java so check the java version you have..other people have been saying that with the updated versions of their ATI video cards it hasn't been working.. look around the forums (i can't post links right now no time)

Lord of the Rings March 9th, 2005 10:24 PM

Java 1.5 (take the JRE)
