Limewire PRO 4.6.0 - Slow load

I'm happy with this new version, and it seems also working really faster.
Just a little problem when starting it: it takes a lot of time , freezing my PC , the Limware process sucking 99% of the CPU (i am on XP - XP2 ) , and, after 3 or 4 minutes it loads regularly without problems.
If i close the program and reopen it , no problem.

I do have other Java routines , and there is no problem opening them.
Latest version of JRE I installed is the 1.5.0(build 1.5.0_01-b08).

Please let me know what do you think...

...any comment? Any suggestion...?
Please help!

ummmmmmm......... Does LimeWire start up immediately when you log on to the computer? If it does, and you fix that, that might solve it......... Try downloading the newest versions of everything....... I would also say to restart your computer, and try again. If the problem keeps happening........... Try what I've said, I'll search the forums...

...nope. I do start it launching the icon on the desktop when I need it, and being sois sloooow now, it is better, I suppose.... Just think of it freezing the PC at startup....;)
I have applied the fix suggested here, all the files are the latest versions, the JRE is the 1.5.0 .
I do have an ATI graphic card, but I do not have anyof the problems seen in the forum by other users.

Tks for the reply.

Cute image, but would you please edit it out of you posts please. Don't think it's appropriate for the younger viewers. Thank you.

As to your problem. Try setting the priority in task manger to a lower level.

I have tried to do it , but , after the normal warning not to use it to avoid instability, nothing has changed... or better, it did not solve the problem, just delay it some minutes more....

I also make a fresh reinstall , after a good registry cleaning, of LimeWire PRO.

Sorry for the previous image, hope to have not offended anyone, it wasn't my intention.

Just enjoy new one....:D

Hmmm not sure, but check this link out. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...ersion+of+Java

It seem some machines run better on the older java version.

Thank you for changing the image:D

Fabion,

I've tried the downgrade, but unlikely I didn't find the 1.4.2 version anymore on my HD or on the Sun Site.
Could you suggest me a simple way to find it ?

TIA
;)

Sun 1.4.2: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html (Choose the JRE) You can find the version of Java LW is using by going to the Help>About LW ... menu.

(Sorry about your sig. I put it back, I didn't read the whole thread.)

So you tried deleting your prefs folder? Do you have your video card set up specially for games (specific settings)? (Some people have also found with their video card that if they reset it to default it seems to fix some problems.)

How many versions of LW & Java have you had in the past? Do they still exist on your computer?

Try reducing the no. of shared folders (OR reduce the no. & size of files within the folders might be better & safer) as an experiment. Also go to your incomplete folder & list it in order of size. Delete all those that are 0 KB. Then after opening LW, arrange downlds by Progress (click on top of column heading to do this), & select all those at 0% holding down the SHIFT key to select all of those at 0% only & press the Stop button to remove them from the list. This should take some weight off LW when it's starting up.

Frodo (LOR, uh!:p ),

I'm just downloading the JRE. Tks for the link.
Not a problem for the sig.
I was using the 1.4.2 since some days ago, when I decided to pass from LW 4.6.0 to 4.8.0 PRO (don't know why, but the icon on the desktop is still saying 4.6.0 PRO ...). When trying the previousversion, with the old JRE , I had no problem.

I do share one BIG dir , with something about 2800 MP3 files. Don't share any VIDEO. Will try to see if cancelling this shared directory the program will load quicker.

Will let you know later. Thanks again.

Ciao!
