What's compuserve got to do with it? I think the problem here is the 56k modem |
Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) 2. What firewalls you have? 3. ram? 4. HDD space available? 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) 9. Who is your isp? |

bump! someone help me please! |
You should configure your mcafee firewall to allow LW access: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml Are you happy with LW 4.3.3? The most recent version is 4.8.1 which has better firewall support: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml Try deleting your LW preferences folder whiilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say ‘Test Page was a Success’. What happens when you go there? |
Thanks for your help LOTR. I did everything you sai, test page, mcafee, I even got 4.8.1. But still, all it says is quality: connecting. I think its actually my ISP, compuserve. It wont let an outside connection, if im right. Internet Explorer wont work either. I'm pretty sure im screwed. |
sorry for double posting, but i just wanted yo let LOTR that I have a registered http://ducain.org/hihforum/images/sm...on_twisted.gif |
So was the test page a success or not? You could always try a different listening port. You could also try using a Proxy!!! (By the way, if you become a member of the forum you'll know when people have responded to your posts & also be able to pm other people.) See: Another option is A Fix for those whose ISP's block Limewire which is using proxies. On page 2 is a link to an alternative description of setting up a proxy. |
