Help! Connects but not

I downloaded Limewire a few days ago, and for some reason it won't work. I open it up, and it won't actually connect. It says wait for it to go to Good or Excellent...but the little bar in the left bottom corner it always has 1/5 green things..and it won't let me look at any songs it always comes up with 0 results

Sounds like you need to configure your firewalls for a start: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml
Also make sure your Java is up to date, see: Fixes for Limewire

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is.

I forgot to ask 9. Who is your ISP provider? If you use a proxy have you set LW up to cater for it.

These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is.-4.8.1 LimeWire and the 5.2 Java

Oops I meant Java 1.4

Lord of the Rings March 28th, 2005 06:41 PM

Try updating your Java to 1.5, see link above in Fixes...
I'd certainly hope you got heaps more than 64 MB ram. lol

When you open LW, wait some time for it to load. Then if it won't connect, go to File>Disconnect. Wait a minute & go File>Connect

I notice you'er using a proxy, do you use a proxy with LW?

Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say ‘Test Page was a Success’. What happens when you go there?

TheRockNSock March 28th, 2005 06:54 PM

it says test page was a success

Do you update to J2SE Runtime Entertainment Environment 5.0? If so I already did that

Lord of the Rings March 28th, 2005 07:09 PM

I'm missing some info here. Do you have your firewall setting set to UPnP? If yes then try changing it to manual port forward for a while to see if it makes any difference. Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls

Who is your ISP provider?

TheRockNSock March 28th, 2005 07:11 PM

AOL is my ISP...I looked at that thread though and it didn't make much sense or did it help me.

Lord of the Rings March 28th, 2005 07:13 PM

Try this: Go to Tools>Options>Connections & untick option & press apply. Now close LW. Then open & leave it 20 mins or longer. Then go to File>Connect.

Are you sure you have Java 1.5? Go to help menu>about LW to find version of Java.
