Default connecting problems/NON/NON/NON

Will try to give you the Reader's Digest condensed version....
This is not my first day on the planet, just your joe average computer illiterate. "Have four or five"lifetime mamberships" to/with limewire...mostly,but not all my screw ups. Latest was almost forty dollar mega cd/ latest greatest blah, blah.
After installing said program, I have zilch........except the dreaded red bars..connecting....connecting. In the same time frame was installing sp2( had to go retro as it estrangrd my printer). Also doing the Norton upgrades whatever........
Bottom line, I have been without limewire thirteen days and seven hours.. None of the fixes are are working thus far. I'm hoping that God, Lord ot the Rings or some other computer super star will be able to help me.
Back to "illiterate", I need an A,B.C, 1,2,3 here..........
AM NOT COMPUTER SAVVY

So sorry to be so lengthy...............
THANKS!

sobeit
