Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say ‘Test Page was a Success’. What happens when you go there?

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is.
9. Who is your isp provider?
10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is.

well........ I'm not the best person to talk to about comps, but heres what i came up w/
the test: "Sorry, could not find the page you requested because of a problem:
Error Unknown - Unknown error with URL"
1.xp home
2.norton and antivirus
3. sorry???
4. sorry???
5.cable modem
6.RCA, model #?
7.home
8.LW:4.8.1
JAVA:1.5.0_01
9.comcast
10.first time

Your test result is very poor news. Your isp provider might be blocking your use of p2p.

Try another port. Go to LW's menu Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & type another number into the listening port box. Let's try 1245 or 2345 & then press the apply button. Then go to LW's menu File>Disconnect. Wait a minute & then File>Connect & give LW some time to try to connect.

It might be wise also to make sure you've got the most recent Java: Java 1.5 (take the JRE) & save to your computer before installing.

If the above doesn't work then we might need to look at using a proxy which will take a little effort.

ok i'll try that, I just stoped using bare share cause I herd that this was the best one out of those programs so lets hope it works:)

edit:ohh yea when I tryed to get the new java it put me to that da*n

can find this site pice poo poo, and as you come to know me you'll find out why we say my comp is in need of an excirsom

So Bearshare worked ok for you? You could connect & downld without problem/

Sycoduck April 4th, 2005 07:29 PM

sure the only problem was that once and a while a movie file would only have the audio side like and red vs blue episodes and when i downloaded ghost in the shell movie 1 but that may have been the media player

Lord of the Rings April 4th, 2005 07:31 PM

It sounds like it. Good to have xtra codecs & a backup player. eg: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36016

Sycoduck April 4th, 2005 07:36 PM

lol, yeah looks like it.

Sycoduck April 4th, 2005 09:05 PM

I tryed both and no luck but getting off topic a little downloading a codec, does it matter which one?
