Well if you have a look at some of the other posts in this section you'll know what information you should give us 4 us to help u.

Lord of the Rings April 5th, 2005 05:39 AM

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider?
10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is.

Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say ‘Test Page was a Success’. What happens when you go there?

6.modem router....what are they..where are they...??
7. home.
8. the latest
9. whats ISP provider....explain??
10. new user on this computer, its new.. but have used this program b4.

the site went to a site called INSTAFINDER...does that a lot with many sites.

I did that add port 6346 in windows firewall....but nothin

You don't need to have 2 firewalls active. Norton Internet Security should be enough. From what I've read, 2 firewalls can interfere with each other.

In any case, even if you disable the XP firewall, at least configure it anyway just in case to allow LW full access; instructions here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

Also see: Configuring Norton Internet Security

Your modem is the device between your computer & the internet. ISP = Internet Service Provider; ie: the company who you pay to connect to the internet.

Did you go to the site with your browser I asked to see if it said your test page was a success?

goin CRAZYY!!!! April 5th, 2005 06:59 AM

ok i have done all of that...

1. i turned off windows xp firewall and added and enabled Lime wire.
2. Norton is on and workin..... did the whole permit all thing....

ISP = telstra broadband/cable

went to that site, with my browser......said INSTAFINDER..Error....it didnt say ur page was a success

ok quick Question in lime wire under Tools, Options,Advanced, Firewall Config.

the Router config..........what should it be under...UPnP or manual..... port is 6346 correct....

ok what a local IP address..........also???? thax 4 this

Lord of the Rings April 5th, 2005 07:17 AM

Leave the setting at UPnP. To my knowledge Telstra doesn't block p2p unless they've just started. There's seems to be a problem with the link I gave for the test page b/c I can't reach it either lol. :D

OK let's try this:
1. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

2. After opening LW you will need to reset your options, but leave everything at default except the following: Go to Tools>Options>Connections & untick connect on startup & press apply button. (Also go to Tools>Options>advanced>Startup & make sure connect on startup is unticked.)

3. Go to LW's menu File>Disconnect. Wait a minute. Then go File>Connect & wait about 10-15 mins. to see if it connects.
