Limewire Kills my connection! (part deux)

I know there's already been a post about this, but everytime I connect to Limewire I am booted from my internet connection (along with my roommates, we're hooked up to a router). This problem only seems to have been happening since I've downloaded the new version. Also, I don't have a ton of songs queued up for download/upload. My system specs are: Windows XP (firewall), 40 GB harddrive, 256 RAM, cable modem.

Can anyone help?!

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
4. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
5. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
6. What version of Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
7. Who is your isp provider?
8. What type of isp service plan are you on.
9. Do both you & roommate try to use LW at same time?

Sure, here you go:

1. OS version? Windows XP
2. What firewalls you have? Windows XP Firewall
3. Connection type? Cable
4. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 3Com 3C920 Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller (3C905C-TX Compatible); Router is a Netgear Cable/DSL Web Safe Router Gateway RP814 (4 computers are connected to this)
5. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? Home
6. What version of Java do you have? J2SE RUntime Environment 5.0 Update 2
7. Who is your isp provider? Comcast
8. What type of isp service plan are you on? Not sure, we have a cable/internet package from comcast.
9. Do both you & roommate try to use LW at same time? I am the only one who uses a P2P program in our apartment.

When I previously installed Limewire I had to mess with my firewall settings to get the program to work but it never kicked me offline. Do you think downloading the new version would have reset the firewall settings back to default? In the firewall menu it still lists Limewire under exceptions...

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Well it could be a router issue. I read reviews HERE (which had some problems) & also a couple on the 3 com card HERE & also HERE

But then, if it is LW or LW is the catalyst for setting off the problem then I can make some suggestions.

Go to LW's Tools>Options>Speed & tick disable Ultrapeer Cap. & press apply button.
Set both uplds & downlds to autoclear.
Close all LW windows you don't need open at that time.
Reduce uplds to about 70-80% or more. Reduce downlds to 80 or 90%.
Whilst LW is open, click on top of the Progress bar so all incomplete files are organised by % downlded. Then select 1st at 0% & scroll down to last & select it whilst holding down SHIFT key also all at 0% are selected, then pres the Stop button. Then go to your incomplete folder & view it in list mode & click on size column so all are arranged by size. Now delete all those at 0 KB. This will speed up opening of LW & reduce stress on connections & hopefully your router.
You might also consider reducing shared files if you have multiple thousands of them. Good luck. Sounds like your comp is losing communication with your router b/c it's too busy.

Also don't use the Resume button on all incomplete files. This will also stress LW & your comp. If you use Resume/Find sources then just apply it to a couple or so at one time.
