I, too, am having problems with this.

I was originally running an older version fine, until one day I decided I'd finally listen to the pop-up and download the new one.

I did so, and haven't been able to use it since.

It starts up, and I see the logo for a few and opens up. However, it's just a slate of grey.
When I hover my mouse over the search box, it blinks, and I can enter something, but that's it.

Here's a pic of it:

I've had to resort to Ares to share (vomit). :(

Please help me out...
I know you're gonna say it's probably the XP theme I got, but it's not, because this problem was in effect before I acquired the theme.

And since you asked, here's my info on my comp:
Dell, Intel P4 w/ HT 3.0GHz
WinXP Pro
1024MB DDR2 SDRAM
Limewire 4.8.1
Java version unknown (don't know where to check nor where to update... that might be the problem)
Firewalls: Microsoft AntiSpyware, McAfee Personal Firewall Plus (both installed AFTER I got this problem)
Connection is DSL
I'm connecting from home
I'm using Verizon DSL

The questions I skipped I either don't know or didn't answer because they're not relevant.

Thanks for your help.

Try uninstalling Java using the Add/Remove programs control panel. Then downld Java again & save it to your computer (don't install over the net!) See: Fixes for Limewire

I uninstalled JRE, then reinstalled it with a newer version to no avail. Guess that wasn't the problem.

So I tried your other suggestions (deleting the .limewire folder), but when I went to the Control Panel, the only option was to remove Limewire. There is no option to repair it.
I uninstalled and then reinstalled Limewire, and new screens came up but I still couldn't see the any words, just grey like above.
:(
Any other suggestions?

Hi the18thletter

You can locate your display adapter by start>control panel>systems>hardware>device manger --- this will show all the the devices installed on your comp. If you click on the + where it says display adapter this will expand, and show the display adapter(s) installed.

You can also check out this link. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=34408

It shows a member that had a display adapter problem and how it was fixed.

Thank you for your help. :)

I've solved the problem.

It's the Anti-Aliasing. I have it set to 6x for every 3D application I use, and for some reason Limewire is effected. If I turn it off to Application Preference, the problems go away. :)

Thank you very much for your help.
