Cannot open Limewire
 

When i try to open limewire, i can see it on the taskbar but when i click on it, it does nothing. It is written : LimeWire: Enabling Open Information Sharing

Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed & re-installing Java by savig the installer to your computer & then installing (remove the other version using your Add/Remove Prog Control Panel); instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider?
10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.

What worked for me
 

I had the same problem and did a zillion things and nothing worked until i tried this:

Go to Start My Computer
Go to c:\programs\program files\limewire
then click (or double click) on the file that reads
limewire.jar
(and under it says executable jar file, about 7007 kb)

After I clicked that it brought me through the setup stuff that's real quick and easy and everything worked great after that!

Oh deselect start limewire at startup. I heard that causes problems too.

Good luck! (I almost deleted limewire and was just about to use something else than this worked. I think it knew it was in trouble.)

oops! okay, so i never had any sense of time...(too many years of working nights or too many kids driving me crazy) Maybe it'll help another dimwit like me!

don't worry fivekitten, 7 months later i am trying your advice:idea: [along with many others] to get my limewire working...
