TUrbocharged Crashed and Burned!

Help needed.......
after having continued crash and subsequent errors I upgraded to PRO, thanks to these forums and some research.
Now I get Bus Error occurred at PC=0x9068BA4C after a crash
I am running a database orientated OSX 10.2.8 on G4 17 Laptop with LIMEWIRE PRO.
Turbocharged Download is way too slow, and message for disconnection is constant....anyone had this or parts thereof?
Any help gratefully appreciated.

I'm really not sure. A bus error is a data transfer error. So unless it's overloaded or something lol ... don't know why.

You could try these 2 things:

1. Make a note of your LW settings & then, whilst LW is closed delete the LW preferences found here: /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire

2. Use the standalone Java installer to re-install it: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...update142.html

I'm not an expert on Macs, but it sounds to me like a hardware problem, rather than a software problem. If you had a PC, I could recommend a memory testing program, but I don't know of one for Mac. That's where my vote for the problem is.

Good luck,
Brian

The bus is the medium that all of the cpu connects to so .. was my suggestion of overloading .. /poor connection. Since you have a laptop I'm reasonably certain the bus speed is much slower than the desktop G4's & 5's. Something ain't coping ... I saw that issue on some of the older SCSI HDD's once in a while. How fast is your HDD. My guess is it's only a about 5400 rpm. Most nowadays use 7200 rpm. But just some thoughts b/c I'm not sure what's caused it. I do know a lot of the early G4 laptops had some issues. Frustratingly sometimes ... but that's what I saw of other people's ... I've never had a G4 laptop.
