Yes when you re-open LW & reset the preferences then LW will create a new fresh preferences folder.
University is the killer word there. Many a university is blocking p2p nowadays. There can be numerous ways they can achieve this. One is blocking ports.

Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www.grc.com/port_6346.htm (Press Probe this port button) Does it say open or closed? If closed, try another port number like 3910 or 5105 or 80. (You can change the port test no. desired.)

port test

ok so when i probe the ports, they say stealth in green following the probe. what now..? i just dont want to have to eat 20 bucks for nothin

Stealth means that the ports can't be tested properly because you have firewalls up preventing them being tested properly. Temporarily disable your firewall to do the test. And also configure your firewalls to allow LW full access: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

You have the opportunity to try the free version of lw before you buy pro so ... don't throw that at us. And this is a forum not a part of LW.

o no, im not tryin to be an *** about it.....i truly appreciate your help....im gonna disable my firewall and ill let you know

No5diddles May 2nd, 2005 10:39 AM

ok so i set up my options to allow LW full access....even after temporarily shutting down my firewall, when i probe each port it still says stealth....
