I'm guessing your office has some type of restrictions that prevent you connecting. Stopping p2p use can be done many ways. Else there might just be too many firewalls & restricted access for 'foreign' programs to operate properly. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say ‘Test Page was a Success’. What happens when you go there? |
Perfectly it says that " Your test worked!" but it does not work. What the hell is this..... aaaaaaahhhhh |
i have tried do the test @ http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ and The page said " Your test worked!", not say "‘Test Page was a Success".. which one is really work to me? |
That was simple test to see if port 6346 was open or closed. The site went down a while ago & has just been reinstated but they changed the message that's all. SO your results are good there at least. Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) 2. What firewalls you have? 3. ram? 4. Hard Disk space available? 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 9. Who is your isp provider? 10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. |
1.xp home 2.windows and zone alarm but ther down 3.512 ddr 4.30GB 5.DSL 6.Home 7.LimeWire client 4.8.1 Java1.5.0_01 8.I think T-online 9.My 1st try |
Regardless of whether your firewalls have been de-activated, might I suggest you configure them to give LW full access. But it's generally advisable to only have one firewall active since they can interfere with each other; instructions here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml Try manually connecting. Go to Tools>Options>Connections & untick option & press Apply button. Then go to menu File>Disconnect. Wait a minute, then go File>Connect & wait for up to 30 mins for it to connect. Try this a few times. If that fails try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire & do the same as above. LW can sometimes take a while to connect & initially needs time to load shared & incomplete files. |
Hi BigBo If your firewalls are down, which I hope mean disabled. Then it appears your DSL Modem/Router has a bulit in NAT firewall, and is not capable UPnP technology. You may have to forward a port. You will need to locate the modem/router type and model number that you are using. You can then go to this link, which has instructions on how to do this. http://portforward.com/routers.htm You will also need to change your setting in LW tools>options>advanced>firewall config --- to manual port forward. Best of luck You should also configure your firewalls as LOTR suggested and use just one of them. It is not a good idea to leave your computer unprotected without a firewall. |
