Spyware or virus that attaches to Limewire?

Every time I use limewire lately my isp turns off my DNS server...
My isp told me that it's not limewire that is doing it but most likely a spyware program or virus that seems to activate every time I use limewire...
I have used Adaware, spysweeper, and ez-anti virus and still have the problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Limewire and still have the problem.. And yes the definitions have all been updated..

Has anyone else had this problem?
How do I fix it?

Do you have lots of incomplete & shared files? Do you jump in & use LW immediately after opening? Do you use the Resume/Find Sources button on all your files?

If "yes" is the answer to any of the above it's probably due to you overloading LW.

Suggestions:
* After opening LW wait 10 to 20 mins before using. Let it settle down 1st.

* Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue!

* Don't use the Resume button on all incomplete files. This can have side-fx such as affect LW's connection quality. This will also stress LW & your comp. If you use Resume/Find sources then just apply it to a couple or so at one time.

* Don't try to downld more files than you can handle at one time. Any file that goes into Queued mode means your LW is too busy to handle them!

* If still problems then: Go to LW's prefs>Speed & tick disable Ultrapeer Cap. & press apply button.
Set both uplds & downlds to autoclear.
Close all LW windows you don't need open at that time.
If you're not in front of your comp, then hide LW in the dock or program tray.
Reduce uplds to about 70-80% or more. Reduce downlds to 80 or 90%.

I reinstalled Limewire yesterday and have had Limewire up for alittle over a day now and all seems to be ok..
Only downloading or searching for 1 file at a time now.
And my isp hasn't disabled my DNS server as of yet. (crossing fingers)

I was wondering... I had uninstalled Limewire and reinstalled it thinking that I might have gotten a bad install or had some setting wrong.. what I was wondering after reinstalling it I noticed that all my old settings were the same? Shouldn't uninstalling it have erased everything? why did it remember my settings?

Uninstalling only removes the program entities & folder. If you wish to delete the LW preferences folder, it won't hurt at all. Just make a note of your settings & delete the prefs whilst LW is closed; see point 2 I think it is (sample images further below): Fixes for Limewire
