Connection problems-tried everything- confused

I've been trying everything on this forum and still cannot connect. It's stuck on connecting, with one green bar.

I don't have a firewall set up and it won't connect. I set up a firewall, but make sure to add LimeWire to the allow list, and it won't connect.

I've made sure the allowed ports are 6346. I checked my Norton AntiVirus and it said it "Permits all" for LimeWire. When I checked the bug report example, I get "Received incoming this session: false".

I attempted to go to this website: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/
And I get a "cannot find" error message.

I'm using Windows XP Professional: Service Pack 2
Cable Wireless connection
894MHz
1 Gb of RAM

Please help! I'm so confused as to why nothing will work!

Sorry for some repeat questions but:
Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider?
10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.

you might find you have to port foward if using a router modem for adls if your only dial up and it looks like your not then check windows firewall and make sure its ticked and if you cant find it add it to the list
Cheers

1.Windows XP Service Pack 2
2.Norton, and the one with XP
3.1 Gig of ram
4.45 gigs available
5.DSL
6. Router is Westell, and I opened the ports. After I did that, I tried the "http://www3.limewire.com:6346/" website again and it worked.
7. home
8.LW 4.8.1, Java 1.5.0
9. I'm not sure about my ISP provider, how do I find that out?
10.When I had Dial up LW worked fine, but I got a new computer and DSL and now it won't work.

well in that case all you have to do is port foward your modem.
find out what port lime wire likes to run on and then set it in your modem. if your not sure how to do this search google there is lots of pages out there or ring the help line that should be with your modem and they can explain it over the phone to you.
you will find most things will have to be port fowarded like msn for file transfer.
just make sure you give your computer a ip address before trying to port foward other wise your ip will change to the modem all the time and it still will not work.
remember you are networking to your modem so dns gateway and ip make it all work
if you have any problems PM me and i will exlpain

If you forward a port on your modem/router, don't forget to make appropriate settings within LW to mirror this: Manual port forward instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that.
