Have you configured your firewall to allow LW full access; instructions: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

After opening LW wait 10 to 20 mins before using. Let it settle down 1st.

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider?
10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.

I have the same problem

1. XP
2. McAfee
3. 512
4. 70G
5. broadband
6. Webstar
7. Connecting from home
8. LW 8.1.2 Java 1.5.0_02
9. ISP is blueyonder
10. LW worked in the past but now i get the following error message

LW was unable to set up a port to listen for incoming connections. Some features of LW may not work as expected.

Many thanks

I am also, still, having the same problems, and note: my problems are NOT from firewall setup. I think that Limewire just hates us... LOL

Anyways, what does that message entail? It is obviously a connection problem, but what triggers the message? IE: Not connected to a server, or what?

Anyone who can fix this dumb problem, feel free to tell me too.

gandolff try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

Then give it some time to connect. Even up to an hr. If this doesn't work, go to Tools>Options>Connections & untick option & press apply. Then go to File>Disconnect. Wait a minute, then go back & select connect.

SoCoNFuSe:D try the same thing.
