How do i fix this?

Lord of the Rings July 1st, 2005 10:53 PM

That's no biggie! It simply means that since you are not an ultrapeer, simply in leaf mode that you will not see all search results. An ultrapeer helps others to connect. It also stops all unnecessary searches going thru to the leaf. Only searches that apply to your files. This helps reduce unnecessary traffic. If you click yes to the option then you'll only see searches that apply in some way to your files be it an mp3 id3 tag or a partial name of a file you're sharing. Sometimes you might see any of these results. I keep it turned off.

its just interesting to see what other people are searching...

there was no option for yes

how do i not be on an ultrapeer..thing

Lord of the Rings July 1st, 2005 11:16 PM

What i meant was i don't bother viewing incoming searches.

Ultrapeer (UP) is what the Gnutella netwk decides it needs at the time. If it needs more UP's then it will assign UP status to those that have the capacity; ie: lots of up & down bandwidth, etc. From a user's point of view, there's no deciding to become a UP. If it happens, then it happens.

so what do i need to do to make my limewire be able to see incoming searches?

hfeoew July 23rd, 2005 07:11 PM

eh?

If you really have to see, go to the monitor tab where you will see a box marked "SHOW INCOMING SEARCHES. check this box. I hope you are a speed reader. hahaha. Be sure to move the "divider" down so you see the area.

^ the whole point of my thread is on how the "show incoming searches" thing doesnt work. (still doesnt btw)

I wonder if it's because you're firewalled. Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False? If false then you haven't configured your firewall.

In any case read what the message says carefully.
"... you will see few or no searches in the monitor window."

right, so i want to be able to see the searches.... and the thing said false. (i checked it when i had my firewall ON)

Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

I also run in Leaf mode & sometimes I see incoming searches in the Monitor window & sometimes not.

needhelp312 August 10th, 2005 11:06 AM

i dont think i would need to config my firewall when it is off.... i get the message even when it is off.

this is becoming too much of a problem. maybe LW will fix this in their next release.

If the Incoming test said false then if not the firewall then it must be a connection device. Most hi-speed modems & routers use NAT firewalls which block out most ports. If your devices use UPnP then that's fine but if not, then the NAT will filter out incoming!
Can you tell us your modem & router brand name & model numbers?
