Need assistance connecting
 

Just subscribed to LW yesterday and can't get connected. I am not computer savy, but able to follow good instructions. I've researched this forum to find a remedy, but now I feel I'm over my head. Somebody please help. The following is my information:

1. Windows XP
2. don't know how to look up which firewall I have if there is any
3. 512 MB RAM
4. c drive = 2.79GB, D drive = 92GB hard disk space
5. DSL
6. Agere Systems AC '97 Modem Com3
7. connecting from home
8. LW 4.8.1 Java 1.5.0_04
9. Cavalier

I tried the www3.limewire.com:6346/ and I passed the test, so I suspect it may be a firewall issue, which is another problem for me because I know nothing about firewalls. I don't even know how to look up which firewalls I have on my computer. I know......I'm pathetic.....I am willing to learn. I just never had a requirement to learn about it until now.

I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks in advance.

To access your XP firewall there's 2 ways: A: Go to Start menu > click change a setting; B: Open Control panel to access it.
