Another who can't connect... but i could before!

I had huge problems trying to connect to limewire, but eventually after configuring ports etc it worked. After about half an hours usage, my wireless network dropped and reconnected almost immediately. However, I have not since been able to connect.
I have also tried deleting the preferences folder, but to no avail.

1. OS version? XP Pro
2. What firewalls you have? ZoneAlarm - configured to allow Limewire
3. How much ram? 512
4. Hard Disk space available? 8gb
5. Connection type? 2mb ADSL
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? BT Voyager 2000 Wireless router/modem
7. Where are you trying to connect from? hom
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? Limewire 4.8.1, Java 1.5.0_04
9. Who is your isp provider? Pipex
10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user? New problem, experienced user

Thanks in advance

Oh yeah.. and the test page times out - I don't know if it worked before when Limewire was working.

Make sure XP's firewall is disabled (go to the control panel, double click on Windoze Firewall, check the disable box.)

Double-check your zone-alarm FW: Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

You're running a network. How many comp's are using LW? Did your forward a port? If you forward a port, you can only use that port for one program per comp (AFAIK.) So you'd need to open a separate port for the other computers to use LW.

Oh I just read here http://www.adslguide.org.uk/hardware...q3/bt-2000.asp that your bt uses UPnP. That should in itself allow LW full access since LW is a UPnP program.

But if you did the following test & your browser timed out then something's wrong. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

Windows XP firewall is off
Zonealarm is properly configured

I opened the port 6346 both TCP and UDP, set up the static ip address and set limewire to manual port forwarding.

yet the test page still times out

Funny thing is it was working fine and now has stopped working without me changing any settings.

Well if your router is UPnP it shouldn't need port forwarding anyway, unless your router doesn't have the most recent drivers or something.

Double-check that you have a static ip externally & not a dynamic one. This is required for port forwarding otherwise the port forwarding will not work after the ip changes.

I have heard it's best to open a port separately for each of TCP & UDP (some routers give you the option of both at once.)
