Take a look at this screenshot and tell me where it says if your connected or not.

Bottom left hand corner. The 5 colored bars will show either red, green or blue. Red means disconnected. Green means connected. Turbo means you're connected very well (usually to 5 peers I think.) The Quality will tell you what connection level you're at. It may say disconnected or connected, etc.

I have 5 red bars with statement "starting connection". . . it remains there and does not EVER connect. Whats up?

i have the same problem yet i have one little bar green i think and it says im connected

Posting in someone else's thread, May be overlooked & causes confusion.
Also Connection problems can be tricky So Post your details at the beginning,
