Error message when launching
 

i keep receiving this message when i try to launch lime wire
that it's unable to initialize and start usually due to a fire wall program blocking LW access to the internet or loopback connections on the local machine.

I've check the firewall on windows and LW has access and i added Gnutella through the step on LW support. What else can i do to get it going?

What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.

i have LW 4.9.11 i'm not sure on the java because i can't open LW at all to go to the help section.



I have a dell so i called them and they did a system restore from the perivous day when LW did work and that didn't work....So i went i turned the firewall off and that didn't work as well???

Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

If that doesn't work, I wonder if it's an issue with your modem/router.

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider?

The latest beta might be an answer but we might be better to see if the problem is something else such as your modem having issues with LW.

hey thanks for your help....but this morning i turned on my computer and i was able to open lime wire.

One thing i did do was delete LW completely from my files and i re-downloaded it and was still not able to open it, last night that is. This morning i opened it and all my songs were on there so beats me what happened there. thanks anyway.

That's good to hear :) :)

It might have been due to a corrupt install or you've downlded a slightly diffrent version of LW or just a reboot of your computer fixed the problem. Make sure you defragment your hard disks from time to time. LW downlds will definitely fragment them!

Also if it happens again, try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

Heya everyone new member here. I'm having a problem with Limewire 4.9.11 I keep getting a message when I search for files on the net that says That i am still connecting and my results may not show. When its done I dont see any results at all can someone please help me???:confused:
