New version disconnecting

Hi,
I ran the older version of limewire for a few months, with no problems at all. Then I got the updated version, LimeWire 4.29.28, and for some reason, once I start it it runs for a few minutes (usually 10-15 min) then it disconnects itself. It stays on the screen and looks like it is running, but I can't do more searches, and the files are not uploading, it says it is disconnected from the network, though the time flashes keep going. I am not being disconnected from the internet because most of the time I am online chatting or checking out websites as well as using LimeWire.
I have a dial up connection (unfortunately, the rural area where I live does not have high speed or cable  ). It takes a long time to even get a file, and now with LimeWire disconnecting every few minutes, I either have to spend all my time checking the darn thing and reconnecting it, or my files just don't finish downloading. I used to leave it on while I slept, and have my files waiting for me the next day, but now I can't do this either.
Does anyone know anything I could do to fix this? This problem did not occur with the previous version of LimeWire. I'm pretty new to computers, and really hope someone out there can instruct me on how to change LimeWire 4.29.28 so it stops disconnecting.
Thank you !!

re new version disconnecting

Hi i also have problems with the new version disconnecting, i am on a broadband with talktalk and even though i have the pro version i have only been getting good to excellent connection speed and very rarely the turbocharged connection i pay for. With the old version i rarely had less than an excellent connection searches and downloads seem a lot slower now so it will be interesting to see if anyone comes up with some answers to your (and mine) problems. Dont want to hijack your post just let you know even broadband connections are bad as well.

just to add a PS i had recently installed an anti virus program (avast) because avg wasnt working (it is now) so i deleted this and went to the lime wire official site (click on "help" in limewire theres a link there "using liwewire") under related links i clicked on "Can't Connect" and found a firewall issues page printed off the instructions and after trying this my connection was back to near normal. hope this helps you too.:) :)

Disconnections

Hi , Ive been checking all the betas since 4.8.1 and have had varying instances of disconnects. thing can run ok for days, then its back to square one. What AV are you running? I found configuring Norton correctly did initially help. See STICKY's above.

there is a known bug in the connections with LW. it is currently being worked on atm. but if you disconnect, or get disconnected from the network, IIRC your downloads will continue downloading aslong as the hosts your downloading off of dont go offline.

thought i had this problem licked but today the connection is unstable all searches seem slow and even if put a common search such as "kylie" or "crazy frog " with my old 4.8 version i would have been inundated with hundreds of results but ran them both just now both had nil results????. anyone know how i can get back to my old limewire pro 4.8 version back as i am so frustrated with this 4.9 version if not i am going to uninstall the damn thing, i can not believe this wasn't tested thoroughly before general release and getting all us poor saps to part with our money then crap. i used the basic 4.8 version for a while when i realised how good and easy for my family to use compared to my other i decided to pay for the pro 4.8 version now i get grief all the time from my kids:mad:

spar1691, it was tested thoroughly, but sometimes things just slip through. as i said before, its currently a known issue and should be fixed in upcoming releases. stay tuned.

hi all have just come back from hols and found new update 4.9.29 still seems a little slow however (touch wood) doesn't seem to disconnect ( holds breath) lets hope the boffs at LW have sorted the disconnect troubles and work on the speed for the next update. i know speed depends on a lot of things but the old 4.8 version was just so much quicker

disconnect

i've been running lw pro for a couple of weeks with few problems. i have broadband and wxp and download times seemed much quicker until today. it has disconnected itself 10 times and even when the connection is there it's poor.i tried stopping my downloads and even when i wasn't doing anything else on my pc it disconnected several times so people uploading got stopped aswell.
i have avg (which has been running since the begining) and i've changed nothing this end.
what's going on??

connecting?

yeah, i have had trouble today, i was dl today at 1300gmt with up to 80dl speed, at around 1600 it dropped to 0 then could not get a connection higher than fair, went back on at 2330 gmt and im turbocharged dl speed 40+ is it possible its just too many users jamming up the system. unfortunately some dl are now awaiting sources because the hosts aren't online anymore. i am going to try it again tomorrow and see what happens.
