I Cant Live Without My Music!! Please Help Me!!

I Recently Downloaded The New Version Of Limewire (The Free One) And I Click On The Icon When The Download Was Complete And The Message I Got Then And Everytime Ever Since Was: "Limewire was unable to initializie and start. This is usually due to a firewall program blocking limewires access to the internet or loopback connections on the local machine. Please allow limewire access to the internet and restart limewire"... Ive read other peoples post and the did everything the replies said to do and i still cant get my limewire to work... PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Sphinx September 3rd, 2005 09:15 PM

Do you have Windows XP SP2??? If so, you should be able to change the settings in that to accept downloads. If not, then you do have a firewall blocking and I really dont know howelse or whatelse you can do except to try and change ports to adjust your firewall setting to match limewire's.

Bear share lite does have spyware in it I use it occasionally after I install it and run it I remove the spyware from my computer. I have yet to find a spyware detector that does not detect in BearShare Lite and when it is removed BS will no longer work. The only other p2p software that I trust to be spyware free is WinMX

CameLuv3 September 5th, 2005 11:43 AM

grampa... so what should i download then? and is there anyway i can get the old version of limewire back? cause that worked fine for me... PLEASE!! THIS GIRL CANT LIVE WITHOUT HER MUSIC!!

Grandpa September 5th, 2005 12:11 PM

If you don't mind spyware you can run BearShare lite it is a good program it Will connect you to the same Gnutella network. You can find earlier versions of LimeWire there but you must be careful of getting them on the net. LimeWire is a open source code and anybody that wants to and knows how can change it. IE put a virus in it put spyware in it etc. WinMx is not the best program and is on a different net but there is allot of music there. I do not think you will be able to find older version of LimeWire there either but it is spyware free and it is a free program also Below are links for both you will have to choose.

One thing I see nobody has ask you is do you use a router.

If you must get an early ver of limewire

http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=limewire

but we would prefer to get the new one running

Sgt September 5th, 2005 06:22 PM

Hey Grandpa

Did not know that about bearshare lite, it has never come up in my spyware progs

Thank You, will have to research that one.

I also agree with you all P2P programs are watching what you do

Sgt

Sgt September 6th, 2005 04:06 AM

Hi CameLuv3

If you want to keep the music files, that's not a problem just make a new Direcory on the hard drive, then goto the directory your music files were downloaded to, to select all press CTRL+A then goto the directory you created press CTRL+V and xp will copy the files to that directory

Sgt

CameLuv3 September 6th, 2005 09:07 AM

i dont know why its password protected to tell you the truth... i had the old version of limewire and it worked just fine and always has for me... ya i saved all of my files i just cant download anything new... but thanx for all of ur help SGT!

Sgt September 6th, 2005 04:48 PM

If you want an older version of LimeWire then click on Programs and type in LimeWireWin(I'm assuming you have Windows). I've found quite a few older LimeWire versions by doing this. Although, I prefer 4.9.28.

CameLuv3 September 6th, 2005 10:02 PM

ok i will do that tomorrow when i get out of work tomorrow... THANK YOU SGT & everyone else that helped me... it really really really meant a lot to me!!

Sgt September 7th, 2005 04:17 AM

Hi Sphinx

I'm with you

It's now getting to the point of don't upgrade unless you have to, and that's with any program, most of the new programs today seem to be rubbish even if they have been written for Windows, especially the P2P progs, there seems to be problems with just about every new version that comes out, and I use most of them.
