I give up i have tried everything

i have been sitting here for 2days trying to get LW to work. It worked fine till i upgraded it 3 days ago. I deleted the .limewire folder and did just about everything in the "connection problmes" forum. If anyone can help me that would be great if not....does anyone know of any other p2p that doens't contain spyware

Can you give us more details about what's wrong? Are you able to connect with LW?

Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
4. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
5. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
6. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
7. Who is your isp provider?
8. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
9. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

i have window xp pro.
im using windows firewall and have tried that firewall configuration u post.
im useing a cable internet connecting at home with a linksys wireless router. im using the newest version of java 1.50_4 and LW 4.9.28
i clicked on that test link and it says my test worked. I just don't know why it would stop working after i updated it. the only error i get is that it says my machine doens't appear to have a internt connection and that it could be my fire wall.

There is another p2p program that doesn't have spyware it is called WinMx but it isn't very good. But you can install it and see if it gives you the same message if it does it means that there is a firewall somewhere. Your ISP might have started blocking p2p networks but since you say the test worked I doubt it. Any way give it a try the link below will take you there. If you could post back here and let us know the results.

There's also the option of trying differnt ports for LW to listen thru. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & change the listening port from 6346 to something like one of these (try them out one by one): 1111, 3500, 4008, 1203, 80, 20282, 10000, 443, 40475. And press apply after each change. Go to menu bar, File>disconnect & wait for 1 minute, then connect. Wait 15-20 mins for each one until you find one that works. This will work if they're blocking certain ports but not if they're blocking specific p2p programs.

 I am Also in the same boat I have tried eveything. I have windows XP w/ SP2 Cable modem No firewalls w/ the exception for Miscrosofts(which I disabled in a futile attempt to make Limewire work) I am at my wits end with this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :( I'm almost tempted to find the older version and install that if I find it.

If you want older versions try here

http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=limewire

It is recomended not to use older versions because of the improvements to the network

What improvements to the network are you talking about BTW? It's the same old Gnutella that we used for years. ;)

Limewire HELP

If you used an older version, which would you choose? Is there no-one at Limewire that can help us out?
