problem when opening limewire with user interface

Hey everyone i just want to say that for the week i got to use limewire it was great, but about a week ago i got a problem that a few similar people had, but i never saw a definitive answer for them. I open up limewire, which i have also updated to 4.9.29, and it gets to the loading user interface and just hangs there, i have let it hang there for 10 hours overnight while i slept and it was still there when i woke up. im using windows xp on a comcast cable connection not sure exactly what speed. any other info u guys need to help just let me know. if ne body can help i would be more than greatly appreciated

Have you tried the fixes in the link below. Try manually installing Java and LW There are links to java in the link below.

thanks grandpa, im gonna try that now, if that doesnt work then who knows what. since i posted i have tried older versions but the java version wasnt compatable, and i completely removed limewire and started from scratch with installing it. and it will hang at the loading user interface. so hopefully i will solve this problem with the java upgrade. BTW this all started for me when the 4.29.28 or .29 was upgraded too. b4 that lime wire would work phenonmanoly

Try downloading LimeWire to your hard drive do not install it over the net. When the download screen appears click on save and save it to my documents or where ever you want. Then do the same with Java. Then manually install them by clicking on them and follow the instructions. Install Java first. Make sure you uninstall your existing Java and Limewire first. There is a link to java in the first thread choose which ever version you want. The second link is to the official LW site.

i already did that too, and the same thing happens, but it gets my hopes up when i do it cuz it brings up the folder selection screen, but then it just hangs on the load user interface

Have you tried the off line installer or the installer that says other. If they don't work we are going to need a little more information.

OS, Windows 98/2000/XP
CPU, P4 3.0 GHz/AMD 64 3200+Ghz
Memory, 256MB/512MB
Graphic Card Radion 9800/ Nvidia/Intel on board
Connection, Dial-up/DSL
LimeWire Version 4.8.1/4.9.11
Java Version 1.4.2/1.5.4
What firewall you use if any
What Antivirus if any
Are you new to LimeWire or Experienced

Sorry to say I don't have a solution, but I do have the SAME problem!! It also started when I updated to version 4.9.28. I've installed & reinstalled so many times I've lost count. I'm not sure what version I had prior to that, but it worked perfectly!! Now I just get the splash screen (opening LW) and it just hangs there(loading user interface) FOREVER! My whole computer freezes up. I GIVE UP
