try uninstalling limewire, deleting your limewire preferences, reinstall sun java 1.5.0_04 and then downloading limewire version 4.9.30 and installing it.

Half a step beyond that is to instead use the "offline" installer you'll find at the LW downld site. Also, if still problems, sometimes one version of Java doesn't run well on some people's systems so instead use Java 1.4.2 so see step one of this link: Fixes for Limewire

you could turn off data execution protection for limewime(although not recommended, I've done this with other programs and have had no adverse affects, yet.) Start, control panel, performance and maintenance, system, advanced, performance,,settings, dep tab. add lw. if lw is not shown ,add from program files. this should work. any probs pls post back.

I have this same problem and although it is not a fix it works.I reinstalled all the javas and limewires many times.I found that if you delete limewire then goto the website and download the new beta version and run it straight from there it will install and work.BUT...........
You have to do it everytime you close limewire out.

It's kind of a nuisance, but I just leave the "encountered a problem" box alone. I don't click on send or don't send. I just move the box around on the screen and that way I can still use FrostWire.:xirokrotima:
I did notice that in Event Viewer, I got an error 1000 and it referred to Java.

Greetings Centaurette,

Welcome to the Gnutella forums!

Your suggestions are most welcome, but it is usally best to let old threads die. (The last post on this one was more than five years ago.)

Centaurette obviously did a forum search for the topic, that in itself was good. :)
FrostWire is a java application so very much relies on Java. Keeping your Java up-to-date is wise. Also, wisest to install Java via offline-installers. Also good to run a cleaner like CCleaner to keep the registry clean to remove old registry & other information the installers may not have removed.

A word of warning about FrostWire, it installs the Ask toolbar by default. Most people don't realise this & wonder what this other installed junk is. So check the FW installer options carefully next time. ;)
